Leper Outreach
So common to India are the many lepers wandering the streets, seeking love and support. People who contract leprosy are affected both physically and socially. It is a disease caused by the Mycobacterium leprae bacteria. Not only is it crippling, robbing these precious people of the ability to work and provide for themselves and their families; but they are shunned, rejected, and forced to leave their homes and communities. Many lepers suffer from fright and humiliation so greatly that they retreat into hiding. As a result, they are unable to obtain the necessary medical treatment that they so crucially need to heal.
There is a cure for leprosy. Known as Multi Drug Therapy (MDT), it is highly effective in killing all known strains of the leprosy bacteria. However, many are unable to receive this treatment due to their unfortunate circumstances.
Alabaster is reaching out to many leper outcasts on a weekly basis. Alongside of Helping Hands Welfare Society, we hold conferences and Love Feasts throughout the year to reach over 260 lepers. It is through these that we are able to feed them and present the Gospel. We also endeavour to send shipments when funds permit, which provide them with the basic necessities of life. Although we have not been able to provide medical aid for them, it is our desire to do so in the near future.
There is still a great need for help in this area of reaching out to hurting lepers. Please donate today!
