The Background & Ministry of Blessed Pentecostal

Overseen by Bishop Reverend Vincent Ongoje, Reverend Joseph Ouko Ongany, and Pastor Tom Oluoch Amadi; Blessed Pentecostal Church is a ministry affiliated with Voice of Salvation Healing Church and is registered with the registrar of societies. Our aim is to spread the Gospel of Christ and to win souls for Him. We also exist to equip people spiritually, psychologically, socially, physically, and economically through Bible teachings, economic empowerment, guidance, educational skills, and medical care. With this in mind, we aim to make our members effective Christians who are
self-reliant, responsible citizens.

Blessed Pentecostal Church heads various outreach programs in Kisumu and its surrounding environment which include a nursery school; home-based care for those infected/affected by HIV/AIDs; and orphans and widows groups (which includes a self-help group).

We are a faith-based ministry situated at the center of the city of Kisumu, approximately four kilometres from the lakeside city of Kisumu and ten minutes drive to the Muslim-area, known as Kaloleni estate. The principal economic activity in this region is small-scale businesses; with the two main religions being Islam and Christianity. The majority of the inhabitants of this area are the Luos, who are deeply rooted to their cultural practices. Wife inheritance is still widely practiced and women who do not conform to this are isolated. Due to this practice, the area is one of the worst hit with the HIV/AIDs pandemic; which has led to an extremely high number of orphans and widows, particularly between the ages of 16 to 25. Most families are polygamous and jobless, as almost every husband which has several wives cannot keep up with the demands of his families. Alcoholism, drug abuse, theft, and prostitution are also quickly taking root in this area.

With all these facts and more, the area of Kisumu needs the Gospel of Jesus Christ so much more - now than ever! It is in need of steady, periodic, and regular discipleship and preaching of the Word of God. The city needs regular follow-up and involvement in the propagation of the Gospel, which is aimed at reaching the youth and young mothers utmostly. For this reason, Blessed Pentecostal Church was implemented in order to achieve the following:

  • A church to act as a pillar of hope brought about by believing in the Word of God;
  • A church to offer a gradual remedy to community problems;
  • A church to provide strategic vision aimed at giving hope to the isolated orphans and widows; and
  • A church with well-trained servants who can cope with the defiance of the society (in cultural practices) to the Word of God.
